PPP-PML-Q alliance: President Zardari refuses to accept Rabbani’s resignation

Islamabad: Irked by the new found love between PPP and PML-Q, Federal Minister for Interprovincial Coordination Mian Raza Rabbani presented his resignation from his ministry as well as from four parliamentary committees in protest.

However President Asif Ali Zardari refused to accept the resignation and directed him to continue his work.
Official sources told Online that Mian Raza Rabbani met President Asif Ali Zardari for lunch at the Aiwan-e-Sadr . The meeting lasted for more than an hour, in which Raza Rabbani openly expressed his reservations over the newly formed alliance with PML-Q.
According to sources, Rabbani told the President that majority of the party members are against this alliance and this would gravely damage the party. He told that as the result of power sharing formula inked with PML-Q the same people would be included in the PPP government who were part of the previous doctorial regime of President Musharraf. He told that these are the same people against PPP is struggling for democracy.
Rabbani told the president that hurdles are being created in the working of the Parliamentary commission for devolution of ministries to provinces. Moreover just to back out on the say of PML-Q from the decision made on HEC would be against the constitution and he cannot work under these conditions. He said that hurdles are also being created in the implementation of Balochistan package
He requested the President to accept his resignation from the ministry and the four parliamentary committees.
Sources told that President said PML-N wants to isolate him politically and there are differences with other associates as well hence he has no choice but to include PML-Q as a coalition partner.
On this occasion he also talked to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani . PM also requested President not to accept the resignation of Raza Rabbani and upon returning from France he would remove all his (Rabbani) reservations.
Sources told that Rabbani emphatically told the President that if decision of parliamentary Implementation Commission is not accepted than he would leave the process of devolution of ministries to provinces.
