Army chopper shot down in Abbottabad

Islamabad: An army helicopter was shot down early Monday morning in Abbotabad city where Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden was killed, a media report said.

A private TV channel quoted sources as saying that the chopper crashed on PMA Kakul road in the early hours of Monday.
One person was killed and two injured in the incident.
Media reports did not indicate whether the helicopter was gunned down during a special operation to kill Osama bin Laden.
Eyewitnesses said heavy firing was heard before the helicopter fell.
An eyewitness Zulfiqar Ali told BBC that prior to the army operation in the Thanda Choha area the locals were told by the Pakistan army to turn off all lights in their homes and not to step out and the whole area was surrounded by security forces.
He told that after the army offensive he heard a loud explosion after which firing started. He told that he saw a fiery helicopter falling down outside a mansion. He told that he also saw two helicopter hovering over the mansion, which was spread out on 3 to 4 acre of land and had high walls and barbed wires.
He told that he heard the sound of cries of children and women from the mansion.
He told that the mansion was built by a Pukhtoon 10 to 12 years back and no one knew who lived here.
It is not known how many people were aboard the chopper which is reportedly capable of carrying eight to 10 people. Online
