KARACHI - Chairman Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqqiqi Amir Khan was released on bail after eight-years detention here on Monday.
According to reports, Amir Khan left the Central prison Karachi in the evening and was rushed to his home located in Malir Cantt area escorted by law- enforcement agencies.
Score of workers and party leaders rushed to jail to celebrate the release of their leader.
Sindh High Court ordered the release of MQM-H leaders Afaq Ahmad and Amir Khan on bail.
Afaq and Amir, who head two separate factions of the MQM-H, have been asked to submit surety bonds worth Rs 300,000 each but government of Sindh kept both leaders in detention under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
Both factions leaders had been awarded life sentences last year on charges of murder and kidnapping of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers in 1996.
Amir Khan had earlier been released from the Central Jail for four hours on parole so that he could attend his nephew’s funeral.
His nephew, Muhammad Sabih Khan, 32, was murdered last Friday in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Amir Khan former senior member of MQM left the party in 1991 and formed its own party MQM Haqqiqi with Afaq Ahmed in 1992 but the association of both leaders ended after the differences in 2006.
There were some six cases were filed against Amir Khan including the violation of Section 144, another for possessing unlicenced weapon and four cases of murder.
Sources close to Amir Khan said that number of senior party workers disassociated themselves because of the deal with Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Sources also said that Amir Khan has decided to join MQM and negotiations in this regard have been completed. The Nation
