CHINIOT: Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that
while acknowledging all shortcomings and weaknesses of Armed Forces,
the institution would never be allowed to be weakened/demoralized.
Addressing
a public gathering, he said that the American incursion of Abbottabad
and recent attack on high priority asset of PNS Mehran were undoubtly
deplorably tragic lapses of Army institutions; which, while requiring
strict accountability, should not be taken as a free token for anybody
to malign/ weaken them.
He said that Army was not associated
with any single officer or leader but the entire Army, and all
politicians were from among the Nation itself, and also stressed on
gaining maximum self-reliance.
He also lauded Pak-China friendship, and the fact that China had /was investing billion in Pakistan’s economy.
The
Punjab CM also berated corruption, and while strongly advocating
accountability in this regard, said that if anyone could prove
corruption in his government, he was ready to face accountability.
He
also cited various developmental schemes in the Province, which
included district hospitals for Chiniot, Chiniot-Pindi Bhatian Road,
Rescue 1122 office and services, and Ashiana housing scheme for poor of
