PM Gilani directs Interior Ministry to clear backlog of MRPs

mabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has directed the Ministry of Interior, Directorate General of Immigration and Passports and NADRA to facilitate expeditious clearance of the backlog of Machine Readable Passports as well as of National Identity Cards for overseas Pakistanis.

The Prime Minister while welcoming the fact that UAE had now emerged as the largest source of home remittances from abroad, directed Pakistan’s Diplomatic Missions in that country to redouble their efforts to increase that volume further by providing every possible help and assistance to 1.2 million strong Pakistani community in that country.
The Prime Minister was talking to Mr Jamil Ahmad Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE who called on him at the PM’s House here on Thursday.
The Ambassador apprised the Prime Minister of his efforts to strengthen the political, commercial and economic relations between Pakistan and UAE and sought Prime Minister’s intercession for resolving some outstanding bilateral issues with the assistance of the relevant departments of the Government of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister issued instructions to the relevant authorities in that regard and assured the Ambassador of his government’s continued full support in is efforts for further strengthening of the bilateral fraternal ties with the UAE. Online
