Govt has restored 1973 constitution in its original form: PM Gilani tells MNAs

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that Government has restored the 1973 constitution in its original form.


The unanimous passage of the 18th constitutional amendment has paved the way for the provincial autonomy. The devolution of 18 ministries and transfer of resources to the provinces will provide basic amenities of life to the common man at their door step, he added.

The Prime Minister was talking to MNAs who called on him separately at his chamber in Parliament house on Thursday.

The Prime Minister asked all the parliamentarians to personally monitor the development schemes in their respective constituencies. He also asked them to prioritize those schemes which were close to completion. He stated that he would visit all parts of the country in the near future to monitor personally the pace of development.

Ms.Nafeesa Shah, MNA discussed devolution of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) under 18th amendment. She requested the Prime Minister that NCHD board may be completed to ensure smooth devolution of the commission. She also requested the Prime Minister for increase in the annual grant for the Girls Guide programme.

Mir Aamir Ali Magsi, MNA discussed law and order situation of Balochistan . He said that the common men have been affected due to miscreants’ activities in the province. He complained that these miscreants and saboteurs are being supported by certain international forces. The MNA observed that these miscreants have destroyed the whole educational infrastructure especially in the rural areas. Mr.Magsi also discussed repair of pat feeder canal and remodeling of the Begari canal scheme which will benefit around 8000 people. MNA said that anti-State elements are taking advantage of widespread unemployment in the province.

During meeting Mr.Humayyun Gohar apprised the Prime Minister about progress of development schemes launched in his area. He also discussed the law and order situation in the tribal areas.

Mr.Sher M.Baloch MNA, commended the Prime Minister’s address in National Assembly yesterday.He discussed Benazir Medical Complex project and apprised him that the land has been acquired for the establishment of the project in Malir,Karachi. He also requested the Prime Minister to include establishment of Medical college scheme as there is ample space in Benazir Medical Complex to accommodate college project.

Mr.Saeed Ahmad Zafar during his call on requested the Prime Minister to visit his constituency to inaugurate Syedwala bridge on river Ravi.

While talking to Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has reiterated the commitment of his Government to continue moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brethren.

The Government, he added, is providing development funds to all the political representatives irrespective of their political affiliations. The announcement of Gilgit-Baltistan Package is clear manifestation of the resolve of the Government to give rights to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Now they can play their due role in the development of their areas, added the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister expressed these views while talking to Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, who called on him at Prime Minister’s House

Appreciating the role of Mian Manzoor as the Chairman of the Committee formed to review the pace of work on construction of Bhasha Dam and Mangla Dam raising project, the Prime Minister said that the completion of these projects will add considerable megawatts to the National Grid to meet the energy requirements of the country in future. He said that he will to inaugurate these projects in near future.

Referring to the upcoming general elections in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, the Prime Minister asked the Minister for Kashmir Affairs to ensure free, fair and transparent elections according to the schedule to be announced by the Election Commission.
