22 militants, 2 soldiers killed in Mohmand Agency

GHALLANAI: Twenty-two militants and two soldiers were killed while 35 others, including 10 soldiers, sustained injuries in clashes in Baizai and Safi Tehsils in the troubled Mohmand Agency on Thursday, official and tribal sources said.

The sources said that 22 militants were killed and 25 others sustained injuries after jet fighters and gunship helicopters blitzed their hideouts in Woch Kohi, Khayali Kor and Surran Darra in Baizai tehsil.


The sources said the forces continued their advance movement in the mountainous Wali Dad area in Baizai tehsil.

The security forces, the sources said, recaptured Spera Ghar post in Sheikh Baba locality from the militants, which they had captured from the forces before the launch of military operation in Mohmand Agency.

The sources said that during the clash on Spera Ghar post two soldiers were killed and 10 others sustained injuries. Sajjad Mohmand, spokesman for the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Mohmand Agency chapter, however, claimed that 12 soldiers were killed in the clashes.
