ISLAMABAD: Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said Tuesday he was sure Prime
Minister Syed (PM) Yusuf Raza Gilani would be acquitted in contempt of
court case.
He said this while talking to media men outside
Supreme Court (SC). He held Prime Minister was not accused person and if
he ordered any officer to give statement in favor of Syed Yusuf Raza
Gilani it would be then misuse of official powers in his views.
Court had allowed whatever powers would be exercised after Tuesday would not be unlawful, he remarked.
Those
who had sharpened their knives were disappointed, he said adding
telephone calls were coming to him that PM would be handcuffed and
warrants of the president would be issued. But I was sure that matters
run in consonance with constitution and law in the courts, he held.
“I
had requested the court to summon the three persons who had signed the
basic documents. They included Masud Chisti, law secretary, Babar Awan
and Nargis Sethi, he added.
“Court has allowed me that whatever
documents would be presented in the court be made part of record. I kept
on saying Babar Awan and Masood Chisti to appear in the court but they
avoided to do so, he stated.
To a question he said senate seat
had not been awarded to him as fee of this case. I have received a sum
of Rs 100 as case fee , he added. I am grateful to party if it wants to
make me senator, he remarked. “I am in PPP and will remain therein and I
have not rebelled against party. Ticket has been awarded to me on
merit, he held. Online
