After disputed memo issue, two names are being considered for Pakistani ambassador to the US.
According to private TV channel sources, Hussain Haqqani is likely to
be replaced by Secretary for Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir. The name of
Hussain Haroon as Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN is also
being considered.
It is worth mentioning that foreign Secretary Salman Bashir is going
to be retired on March 3, 2012. If he is selected as an ambassador to
US, he would have to resign before due time.
Sources also said that Salman Bashir is likely to be replaced by
Pakistani ambassador to Brussels Jalil Abbas Jilani. The latter is
likely to be replaced by Additional Secretary for Europe Abdulbasit.
Sources also informed that foreign office’s spokesperson Tehmina
Janjua would be appointed in Italy on December 5 and Zara Akbari would
be made new spokesperson. SANA
