Pak nuclear program in safe hands: Pakistani Foreign Office

Pakistani Foreign Office said former Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s statement regarding President Asif Ali Zardari is quite misleading and unfounded.

Reacting to Qureshi’s statement regarding the country’s nuclear program delivered in his Ghotki speech, the FO spokesperson said Pakistan’s nuclear program is in safe hands. 
The nuclear program functions within the jurisdiction of National Command and Control Authority, the FO said adding the Authority comprises Defence Minister, Foreign Minister and chiefs of all armed services.
No comprise is acceptable on nuclear program, the spokesperson asserted, adding that no compromise would be made on the defence of the country.
President Zardari assigned all powers to the Parliament and Prime Minister after the passage of Eighteenth Amendment, the FO spokesperson said in connection with Qureshi’s statement.
The FO said that no compromise would be made for maintaining of minimum nuclear deterrence, adding that the command and control authority is working under the prime minister. SANA
