Four suicide bombers and two policemen were killed in an overnight explosion and
firing incident outside a restaurant in Pakistan's largest commercial city of
Karachi, said police.
Sindh Interior Minister Manzur Wasan talking to newsmen said that the bombers arrived at the scene in a van. He said when policemen on duty tried to stop them, they opened fire.
There was a heavy exchange of fire that left four bombers and a policeman killed on the spot, said the minister. Later, police said that one of the bombers blew himself up.
The Minister said that another policeman was seriously wounded in the blast, adding that he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
After search, added the minister, police recovered three grenades and five guns from the van. KUNA
