LHC acquits Moonis in NICL scam case

LAHORE: The Lahore session court has acquitted Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leader Moonis Elahi in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case on Friday.

After a conclusion of arguments by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), District & Session Judge Mujahid Mustaqeem Ahmed on October 15 reserved his decision on the acquittal application of accused Elahi.
Hundreds of PML-Q activists started chanting slogans in favor of their leader soon after the judge announced reserved verdict.
Moonis Elahi was accused of receiving Rs320 million in the NICL scam through bogus accounts. His Manager Abdul Maalick, Rizwan Bhatti and Khalil Ahmad were also indicted in the case. The first FIR was registered on December 27, 2010 and the second on January 27,2011. Online
