Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani would give a
briefing to the Standing Committee of Senate on Defence and Defence
Production on the overall situation of national security on 13th of
October at General Headquarters, adding that members would also inform
about the details of action in tribal areas.
According to Senate Secretariat sources, the next meeting of
Standing Committee of Senate on Defence and Defence Production would be
held at GHQ, adding that former DG ISI and Chairman of Committee
lieutenant general (retd) Senator Javed Ashraf Qazi would preside over
the meeting.
The military officials would inform the members regarding the operations in frontier areas and about defence preparations.
The Standing Committee comprising of Senator Raza Rabbani, Senator
Raja Zafarul Haq, Senator Jan Muhammad Jamali, Senator Chaudhry Shujaat
Hussain, Senator Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, Senator Tahir Hussain
Mashadi, Senator Haji Adeel and other famous senators of parliamentary
parties; meanwhile recommendations for strengthening the national
defence is expected in this meeting. SANA
