Karachi: Despite the directives issued by the Sindh Chief Minister
some seven months ago, 114 ad hoc employees of the Health department
under Local Government yet to be confirmed even after serving for two
decades.
The Provincial Health Secretary put impediments in the
way of their confirmation and summary regarding the matter could not be
sent to the Chief Minister. Many ad hoc employees have passed away and
the remaining are in state of ambiguity.
These employees were
recruited in 1990 on contract and were performing their duties in the
Health department under the Local Government at Gadap Town and Bin Qasim
Town, Karachi.
The Chief Minister instructed the Minister for
Local Government in March 2011, to regularise their services but the
orders were not implemented by the red tapism and delaying tactics of
bureaucracy as the Secretary, Local Government, Ali Ahmed Lund did not
move the summary the to Chief Minister.
These employees are
deprived of their due right. They said as they are working on contract
basis, so their pay and allowances are not being increased as compared
to permanent government employees. Online
