US never carried out intelligence sharing: Military authorities

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Military Authorities have made it clear U.S. has never carried out intelligence sharing with them on Haqqani network.

On a condition of anonymity, sources in the military told ISI had carried out intelligence sharing with U.S. more than anyone else; however, the Americans had not entered into intelligence sharing with Pakistan about Haqqani network. They expressed concern over US allegations about linking ISI to Haqqani network.
Military authorities told US had never talked to Pakistan with respect to ISI alleged links with Haqqani network nor had it ever provided any evidence on this count. A US bid had been made to exert psychological pressure on ISI by levelling allegations against the institution of national security, they held.
They pointed out that intelligence sharing had been carried out with US on different matters in the past and over 60 joint operations were conducted following bilateral sharing of information with reference to Quetta Shura. However no existence of Quetta Shura was found despite it, they added.
Pakistan was playing its role against terrorism with responsibility and no one should be sceptical about it, they underlined.
They further stated had there been contacts between ISI and Haqqani network then key institutions of Pakistan would have not been targeted. On the other hand Pakistan was conducing indiscriminate operations against all terrorist groups under military intelligence sharing, they noted. Despite it they are casting suspicious looks on Pakistan rather than recognising its unprecedented sacrifices, Military authorities said. This state of affairs should come to end now, they underlined.
US authorities should provide evidence to Pakistan about Haqqani network and if these proved correct then prompt action would be taken against them, Military Authorities maintained. Online
