President lauds role of eminent scholars, historians

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that it was important that the toils and hard work of our scholars and eminent historians are not only preserved but are also duly appreciated and merited.
He said this during a meeting with eminent scholars of history of Pakistan Movement here at Aiwan-e-Sadr today, says a press statement.

The meeting was attended by Professor Fateh Malik, Dr. Muhammad Sadiq and Mr. Majid Shamsul Hasan.
The President, during the meeting, directed the Cabinet Secretary to streamline research cell in the Cabinet Division and asked the scholars to assist Cabinet division in facilitating the students of history of Pakistan movement.
The President also said that the government would continue to extend patronage to intelligentsia and writers community of the country and would extend all possible support towards accomplishment of all such tasks that serve the national purposes.
He appreciated the works done by the eminent scholars and termed them as a great service to the nation and invaluable favour to the students of Pakistan movement.
Mr. M. Salman Faruqui, Secretary General to the President, Ms. Nargis Sethi, Cabinet Secretary and Spokesperson to the President Mr. Farhatullah Babar was also present during the meeting. Online
