ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that a lot has to be
done in Azad Jammu & Kashmir for the welfare of the people and
asked the new cabinet headed by Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed to
gear them for meeting the rising expectations of the people.
During
his meeting with the delegation from AJK comprising of President
(designate) AJK, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Prime Minister Chaudhry
Abdul Majeed, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, Ex-Prime Minister
AJK,
Sardar Ghulam Sadiq, Speaker, AJK Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry M.
Yasin, Senior Minister and other members of AJK cabinet at Aiwan-e-Sadr
on Monday, the President congratulated the newly elected cabinet for
assuming their new responsibilities and expressed the hope that they
would work with full devotion for the welfare and uplift of the people
of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Discussing the ongoing
developmental projects in AJK, the President enquired about the
progress on development projects and assured the delegation that
Government would provide all possible assistance to the
AJK Government in its effort to bring about qualitative socio-economic change in the lives of the people.
Various
projects in AJK including recently inaugurated Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto
Shaheed Medical College at Mirpur, compensation to the Mangla Dam
affectees, construction of dry port in Mirpur and establishment of
Science and Technology University in Mirpur came under discussion
during the meeting.
The President said that Government was
paying special attention to the development of Azad Jammu & Kashmir
and completion of various ongoing developmental projects are among the
foremost priorities of the Government. and urged for removing all
bottlenecks and hurdles, if any, in the way of ongoing development
projects aimed at the welfare and uplift of the people of AJK and
called upon early completion of these projects.
The delegation
thanked the President for his keen interest in the development projects
in AJK and uplift of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Online
