DERA GHAZI KHAN: The police claimed to have arrested the mastermind of the suicide attack on the Sakhi Sarwar shrine from Taunsa Sharif.
Addressing a press conference along with the mastermind Behram Khan at the Police Lines on Monday, Dera Ghazi Khan RPO Ahmad Mubarik Ahmad said that the attack plan was prepared by Ayub Pathan of Bajaur Agency, Zara Ali alias Naeem and Behram alias Sufi Baba at Mir Ali in December 2010.
He said that Commander Ayub, who deals in second-hand clothes in Dera Ghazi Khan, had asked Behram Khan to visit DG Khan. He said that accused decided to send suicide jackets and other material through Commander Qari Zafar of Torkham.
The RPO said that after his visit, Behram who stayed with his relative Saleem Jan at Liaquat Bazaar, DG Khan, reported that the peak rush was observed at the shrine in March. He said that Behram again visited DG Khan on March 13 on the direction of Commander Ayub and Zara Ali. He added that Zara Ali later shifted suicide bombers Umar alias Fidayee of Mir Ali and Ismaeel alias Abdullah of Kalan tehsil, Bajaur Agency, to the shrine. He disclosed that Zara Ali with the suicide attackers had stayed in the room number 21 of a local hotel on March 29. He said that on April 1, Zara Ali took the suicide attackers to the shrine and allegedly guided them to their target.
The RPO disclosed that Ahmed alias Sharif alias Ayaz Punjabi had used a silver jeep (BD-5419 Karachi) for transporting jackets and grenades. He said that as per the plan, the accused reached the shrine on April 3 by a van from Dera Ghazi Khan and unloaded the jackets near a hill torrent of the Suleman Range, which led to a blast when the devotees were drinking water at a ‘sabeel’ at the main entrance of the shrine.
