BEIJING: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the mistakes of former rulers have turned Pakistan into a hotbed of terrorism.
He expressed these views while addressing the office-bearers of the Communist Party at its central office in Beijing. Earlier, Shahbaz had been accorded a warm welcome by senior leaders of the Communist Party on Monday.
Addressing a reception hosted in his honour after his arrival, Director General Foreign Affairs Wing of the Communist Party, Zhang Xuyi, said the visit of Shahbaz was an honour for China. The chief minister said he had come to China to seek Chinese cooperation for the Punjab in education, health and energy sectors.
Later, addressing office-bearers of the Communist Party at its central office, the chief minister said Pakistan is passing through a critical time and drone attacks are breeding a new batch of terrorists. He said the horrible consequences of the so-called Jihad against Russia are an open secret and the Chinese support is all the more necessary in the existing circumstances.
Referring to regional situation vis-i-vis Afghanistan, he said Pakistan should give up its old policy and provide an opportunity to the people of Afghanistan to make their own destiny. He said China and Iran would have to play their due role for an indigenous solution to the region’s problems.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Wing of Chinese Communist Party, Ai Phing in his speech said that Pak-China friendship had stood the test of time. Earlier, the chief minster met chairman of China World Peace Foundation, Lee Ru Hong. The News
