India extends stay for across Line of Control (LoC in disputed Kashmir) travel to six months

New Delhi : Based on the recommendation of Held Jammu & Kashmir Government, Indian External Affairs Ministry has extended the stay for cross-Line of Control (LoC in disputed Kashmir) travel to six months.

“To encourage more people to people contacts across the Line of Control (LOC), Government of India hasunilaterally decided to increase the stay period for persons visiting Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan Kashmir to six months with multiple entries,” an External Affairs Ministry statement said on Saturday.
“At present, the validity of entry permit is for four weeks and Designated Authorities for cross-LoC travel (Passport Office, Srinagar & Passport Office, Jammu) extend the stay period by another two weeks,” it added.India and Pakistan agreed to allow across-LoC trade and travel as part of confidence building measuresduring the composite dialogue between two countries from 2003 to 2007.
