Clash between two groups over land dispute claim 15 lives in Gujranwala

At least 15 persons were killed and five others injured over a land dispute between two families in Gujranwala here on Thursday; meanwhile chief minister Punjab taking strict notice of the incident has summoned report from concerned authorities in 24 hours.

In the blood-curdling incident in Piplianwala area of Gujranwala, three women and six children were burnt alive when two houses were set on fire by rivals. The women and children got trapped in the houses and were burnt alive. Three other persons were killed by firing.
As per details, Amjad and Javed have a property dispute for some time now. Javed and his associates allegedly murdered Amjad’s father and brother a few months ago. On Thursday morning, Javed and his aides killed Amjad’s another brother Saifullah and his gunman Usman.
According to RPO Gujranwala Ahmed Mubarak, members of Javed group opened fire rival group Saifullah’s house that killed two persons. The two mentioned groups were having a dispute over a piece of land.
To avenge Javed group, Saifullah group put three houses of the opposite group on fire raising the death toll to 15; meanwhile the police told that casualties increased due to suffocation and burning.
CPO Tufail Ahsan told a private TV channel that teams have been formed and the culprits will be arrested soon, adding that the clash occurred between the two families overt the land dispute.
After the incident, Amjad and his accomplices entered the house of Javed’s brother, opened indiscriminate firing and later put two of their houses on fire.
When police arrived at the scene, the culprits fled away under the cover of heavy fire.
A heavy contingent of police has cordoned off the burnt houses. Police say they have arrested the main accused, though further details were not shared.
The killed include Irshad Bibi, Samra, Sumera, Norin and Zakia from one family and Wali Muhammad, Khushi Muhammad, Hajira, Tanzila and others from the other family.
The flames were doused by hectic efforts of firefighters. When Rescue 1122 went in after the fire had been doused, they found the charred bodies of women and children. Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif taking strict notice of the incident has summoned report from the concerned authorities in 24 hours; meanwhile the inspector has been suspended and proceeding under code of conduct would be held against the concerned DSP for showing negligence in performing their duties.
