Democracy fully restored in Pakistan: PM Gilani

Addu: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Thursday said that the government has transferred democracy to the grass root level in the country.

Addressing to 17th SAARC summit here, the prime minister said that whole south Asia was enjoying democracy in their countries and it was getting strength in Pakistan where democracy has been transferred to grass root level.
“SAARC holds great importance for Pakistan and we must strengthen regional cooperation for benefit of our people” he said.
He said SAARC has great potential of human and mineral sources but development of technology was need of time.
He said joint efforts were needed for regional prosperity and all nations of this region must utilize experiences of each others.
The prime minister said SAARC countries have unique culture and inter-religion harmony should be promoted in SAARC agenda.
He said terrorism was common challenge for whole region and joint efforts were needed to counter it.
The prime minister urged for combined work to overcome the food security, poverty, illiteracy and energy security saying them the common challenges for SAARC countries.
Yousuf Raza Gillani said he wished SAARC can accomplish its goals.
He said Climate change was one of the greatest hazard for whole region added that Pakistan was its victim in result of two worst floods in the country.
He urged south Asian countries to look forward for alternate source of energy. Online
