British jury awards sentence to Trio, Agent

National cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Asif and agent Mazhar Majeed would be jailed for their parts in spot fixing case involving a Test match against England at The Lord’s on Thursday.
  
Judge Cooke held Mazhar Majeed as main culprit, who was sentenced 2 years and 8 months in jail.
Pakistan former captain Salman Butt has been sentenced 30 months in jail, as he was a captain so he should have been most responsible. Salman brought disgrace to the prestige of the cricket, according to Cooke.
Meantime, Muhammed Asif was given one-year term to serve in jail. 
Judge Cooke said Muhammed Aamir and family put up the pressure and he is the youngest player belonging to a far-flung village; accordingly, he is sentenced six months in jail. 
Judge Cooke recommended more punishment for Salman Butt than Muhammed Asif and Aamir.

“These offences, regardless of pleas, are so serious that only a sentence of imprisonment will suffice,” Judge Jeremy Cooke told the four at London’s Southwark Crown Court. Judge Cooke said these cricketers and sports agent brought disgrace to their country as well the game.
Meanwhile the court had given authority to appeal against the verdict and court said that the players will pay the expenditures of the case and for this account Salman Butt will pay 30937 pound, Asif 8120 pound and Aamir will pay 9389 pounds.
The court has said that the carrier of Salman Butt as cricket has vanished and he had compel Muhammad Aamir for doing corruption, adding that the players disgrace the honor of cricket and Pakistan people loves cricket.
Meanwhile Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik says the government will extend every possible help to the Pakistani cricketers, against whom conspiracies were being hatched.
Talking to media here, the federal minister said everyone in the country loves cricket, adding the punishments for the embroiled cricketers have not been fixed as yet and that they have right to appeal too.
The federal minister Malik further said nation will never forgive on wrong deeds or match fixings, adding people pinned a lot of expectations on their national heroes.  SANA
