Lahore: Opposition parties in Punjab Assembly Saturday staged a
protest from the Assembly to the Chief Minister’s House at 90 the Mall
and staged a sit-in against criminal negligence of the Punjab government
in controlling the dengue outbreak in the province, which resulted in
deaths of more than 200 people.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and
Pakistan Muslin League (Q) members’ assembly participated in the
protest and sit-in who chanted against Punjab government.
Addressing
the gathering, Punjab Opposition Leader Raja Riaz said that Shahbaz
Sharif was the responsible for dengue epidemic which has killed over 200
people in the province as “one man show” was being observed in Punjab.
He said no Health Minister had been appointed in the province
for a long time and this kinds of negligence caused deaths of hundreds
people due to dengue outbreak.
He said robbers ruling the province at night and dengue at day time.
Punjab government sent mineral water bottles for participants of the sit-in but they refuses to take government water.
Earlier,
reacting over the protest and sit-in of the opposition, Punjab Law
Minister Rana Sanaullah said that it was in retaliation to the Pakistan
Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) protest and sit-in outside the Presidency.
He said that the Punjab government would offer refreshments to the
