SC decision to bring peace in Karachi: Babar Awan

Karachi: Former Minister Dr Babar Awan has said that the decision of Supreme Court would be accepted to all whether government or opposition regarding targeted killings and extortion in Karachi.

He was talking to the journalist after a ceremony held by Karachi Bar Association in which he distributed compensation Cheques among the family members of the deceased lawyers, killed in the incidents of target killing.
Responding a question regarding sue- motto proceedings of the Supreme Court about Karachi killing. Dr Babar Awan said that the proceedings of the apex court were not any kind of contest but it aims to ensure peace in the city with the help of all the stakeholders.
He said that more than 100 people were died due to dengue virus in Punjab, but PPP neither hold any rally in Punjab nor protested on the roads against Punjab government. He said that Nawaz Sharif is spreading disappointment among the people.
“Protest against dengue remained peaceful, but the affect of violence was added in the demonstrations against load shedding and public property was damaged. He said that it is the first time in the history of country that a provincial government is causing loss to federal institutions through its employees”, he added
Babar Awan said that political leadership of the country and people’s representatives were present in All Parties Conference. An application has also been moved in the National Assembly for the implementation of the resolution of the APC and it would be realized within one-month time.
Earlier during the ceremony he handed over the cheque of 8.7 million to the Karachi Bar Association out of which Rs one million each would be utilized for the welfare of women lawyers, library of Karachi Bar Association and employees of the Bar. He also gave away the Cheques of Rs 0.3 million each to the heirs of 16 lawyers, which were killed in target killings. Online
