Indian SCBA lawyers to attend moot in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Over 50 lawyers of the Supreme Court Bar Association of India will cross the Wagha border to attend the conference organized by their counterparts in Pakistan.

During the two and a half day deliberations, former Presidents of the SCBAP are expected to attend and contribute, according to SCBS spokesman.
The honourable Chief Justice will address the gathering on “People’s Security and the Rule of Law”. Former President of Fiji Law Society will talk of their experience of dealing with the legal system during internal conflicts.
Speakers from Pakistan on this topic are Mr. Talib Rizvi and Ms. Hina Jilani. Mr. Babur Sattar will initiate discussion on reforming the criminal justice system. Acting Prosecutor General of Punjab, Mr. Anwar Khan Gondal, Mr. Zahid Hussain Bokhari and Mr. Ajmad Malik, solicitor-advocate from the United Kingdom, will contribute towards this topic.
An important topic, “Justice and Impunity: Its Portrayal by the Media” will be addressed by renowned journalists, Mr. Talat Hussain, Mr. Ayaz Amir and Mr. Hamid Mir. Other speakers include Mr. Bilal Soofi, Mr. Latif Afridi, Mr. Habib Tahir, Mr. Raza Kazim, Ms. Musarrat Hilali, Mr. Sharif Hussain Bokhari and Mr. Naseeruddin Nayar. The sessions will be chaired by Mr. Abid Hassan Minto, Mr. Muneer A. Malik, Mr. Ali Ahmed Kurd and Justice (r) Tariq Mahmood. In the concluding session former Justice Fakharuddin G. Ebrahim will give his views on the role of lawyers and judges during conflicts. Ms. Sanam Marvi, Mr. Ali Raza, a Baloch folk singer, and Mr. Gulzar Alam will present their ghazals at the cultural program. Online
