THIMPU: Interior Minister Rehman A Malik has said Pakistan is facing
incidents like 9/11 and 26/11 daily and “ our country has paid heavy
price in war against terrorism.

Pakistan has paid heavy price. We are facing incidents like 9/11 and
Mumbai blasts daily However terrorists can not weaken our resolve ”,
Interior Minister said this while addressing inaugural session of 4th
SAARC interior ministers conference being chairman of SAARC.
He
went on to say Pakistan had rendered unprecedented sacrifices in war
against terrorism and this war would continue till the elimination of
terrorism. Pakistan would extend every possible cooperation to SAARC
member countries to stamp out terrorism and it was pursuing 3-D policy
for eradication of terrorism, he held.
He told 7485 bomb blasts took place in Pakistan during the last ten years and 3800 suicide attacks occurred.
Pakistan
had made the laws more effective in connection with border control and
immigration. More amendments were being made in Anti Terrorism Act. The
performance of security forces were being improved and they were being
equipped with state of the art weapons, he told. 31 terror outfits have
been banned in Pakistan, he pointed out.
Besides changing
traditional methods, the mindset of the people will have also to be
changed to deal with menace of terrorism, he stressed.
Lauding
the doctrine of interfaith harmony propounded by King Abdullah of Saudi
Arabia he urged all the countries should pursue this doctrine.
The
way Bhutan had provided basic amenities to its people by adhering to
the philosophy of collective national development, it will help prevent
young generation from slipping into the hands of terrorists, he
underlined.
Condemning the recent incidents in Fiji he said terrorism was undermining the peace of the whole region.
Terrorists
were killing the people unjustly in the name of religion, he regretted.
