Three in four Pakistanis have negative opinion about India: Survey

Pakistani masses views about India have grown increasingly negative in recent years, a new research has found.

According to the Pew Research Centre, three-in-four express an unfavorable opinion of India, up from 50 per cent, five years ago.
When asked which is the biggest threat to their country India, Taliban, or al-Qaeda; a majority of Pakistanis (57 per cent) say India.
Survey has revealed that there has been no change in Pakistanis opinions regarding US after the killing of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
Survey also reveals that President Asif Ali Zardari’s public rating has declined most in the country moving to 11 percent as compared to 20 percent as that of last year. Survey reveals Imran Khan is the only political leader of the country who has gained high public ratings.
Survey told that vast majority of Pakistanis’; 92 percent of them believe country is heading in wrong direction. 85 percent believe that economic condition of the country is not good while 60 percent believe that economic condition would even decline in coming 12 months. Most of the people call inflammation, unemployment, rise in crime rate, terrorism, and political corruption the biggest problem of the country.
Survey told Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani public rating has declined the most in past year from 79 percent to 37 percent.
Survey revealed PML-N Quaid Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif’s public rating also declined by eight percent i.e. from 71 percent to 63 percent.
Survey revealed Imran Khan is the most famous political figure of the country whose rating has jumped to 68 percent with a 16 percent increase.
Survey revealed that vast majority of Pakistanis call the killing of the Osama bin Laden a bad sign while only 14 percent called it a positive sign.
Majority of Pakistanis have a positive opinion about the Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry though his rating has been declined from 61 percent to 51 percent.
PEW Research Centre survey revealed that 76 percent of Pakistanis believe that media is creating a good effect on society while 60 percent believe the same for religious leaders.
These are among the key findings from two face-to-face personal interview surveys conducted in Pakistan by the Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project. SANA
