ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry has remarked DG FIA has violated Supreme Court (SC) orders in
Hajj corruption and NICL corruption cases.
CJP gave these
remarks while presiding over a 5-member SC bench during the course of
hearing of Hajj corruption case here Friday.
CJP remarked that much had been done from DG FIA side and now action would be initiated.
DG
FIA Malik Iqbal, former investigation officers in Hajj corruption case
Hussain Asghar and Javed Bokhari presented their replies to SC in
respect of show cause notices issued to them.
CJP remarked “
Javed Bokhari has surrendered by withdrawing him from the case and this
act falls in misconduct”. “When you have admitted that SC is not
satisfied over your performance then how you have been promoted”, CJP
inquired .
Javed Bokhari told the court “ there was no ill
intent behind writing of letter by me. I had written to DG that my
letter be not made basis for my transfer.
Former Director FIA
Hussain Asghar told the court he had not withdrawn from Hajj corruption
case on his own and on the other hand he was transferred and now
appointed as DG Gilgit Baltistan. He had been transferred without his
consent, Hussain Asghar said.
Addressing DG FIA, CJP said “ we
respect you but you have started taking advantage. Contempt of court
notices will be issued to secretary establishment and Javed Bokhari and
action will be initiated”.
The court described the stance taken
by DG FIA in his reply to show cause notice unsatisfactory saying he
did not try to stop transfers of investigation officers.
The
court rejected the reply given by Javed Bokhari and directed secretary
establishment Abdul Rauf Chaudhry to remove Javed Bokhari from his post
and take action against him.
“When an officer says his
performance is not satisfactory then what strategy it is that he is
promoted to attractive post rather than sending him to home. What
message has been given to court this way.
CJP said conduct of
DG FIA was not satisfactory. The court summoned the record of transfer
of Hussain Asghar and maintained that decision would be taken about DG
FIA after seeing the record.
Further hearing of the case has been adjourned till June, 10. Online
