RAWALPINDI : Anti-Terrorist Court Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan adjourned
the Benazir Bhutto assassination case hearing till 21st of May.
ATC judge showed his annoyance over federal investigation agency (FIA) for non-compliance of arrest warrants of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, the main accused of the case.
The proceedings of the case were conducted in Adiala jail and during the
proceedings showed his severe annoyance over the FIA investigation team for
failing to present the report of compliance of Musharraf warrants.
Due the failure of the FIA to present the report, the proceedings on the
application to declare Musharraf as proclaimed offender and confiscate his
moveable and immoveable property were not started.
The court summoned the DG FIA Mlaik Muhammad Iqbal and investigation team
head Wajid Zia and inquired from them that which are the factors that are
stopping FIA to present report in the court, adding that why FIA is showing so
much laziness in this matter and trying to prolong the case.
The court awarding last chance to FIA for submitting the report after
compliance of warrants during the next hearing of the case.
DG FIA Malik Iqbal informed the court that the FIA is working under the law,
on this the layer of the accused Waheed Anjum prayed before the court that the
court might summon the secretary interior and foreign secretary and might ask
from them about the matter so that the unwanted delay could be avoided.
On this, the court awarded 15 days time to DGFIA for submission of report
regarding the compliance of arrest warrants of Musharraf, adding that about
further action would be thought after next hearing of the case.
During the last hearing of the case the FIA had submitted application after
the formal refusal of British government to hand over Musharraf to Pakistan, in
which FIA had prayed for confiscating the property of Musharraf and for
declaring him proclaimed offender.
Meanwhile the court had declared that the proceedings of such kind would be
started after compliance or non-compliance of arrest warrants of Musharraf. SANA
