10 security personnel killed in Pakistan attack: Rehman Malik

KARACHI - Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Monday that 10 security force personnel had been killed in a "terrorist attack" on a naval air base in Karachi, lowering an earlier toll of 13.
Delivering the first news conference after the 17-hour siege, Malik was also corrected himself after initially saying that "a total of 15" people had been killed and 10 wounded.
But when pressed for more details from a reporter he said: "Let me say it again, 10 of our security personnel were martyred and 15 were injured."
Farooq Bilal, spokesman for the paramilitary Rangers unit, told AFP earlier that 11 navy officials and two paramilitary soldiers were killed in gunbattles with the militants.
