UK, Pakistan partnership set to become more and more important, vital

Karachi : The partnership between the United Kingdom and Pakistan is set to become more and more important and vital, says British High Commissioner to Pakistan Adam Thompson.

"We have deep commitment to work together in mutual respect as equal partners to create conditions forgreater democracy, security and prosperity in Pakistan and UK. Britain is involved in a wide range of activity that supports people of Pakistan, helping to combine history, tradition with modernity and innovation, Thompson said at Her Majesty Queen's 85th birthday reception hosted by British Deputy HighCommissioner in Karachi, Francis Campbell attended by Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khouro, Deputy  Speaker Syeda Shella Raza, Ministers Faisal Sabzwari, Engr, Muhammad Rafiq.
He spoke of Royal Wedding between HRH Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton. These two events mark start of tremendously exciting period for UK & Commonwealth. Year 2012 will be Diamond Jubilee Year: the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. It will also be 60th anniversary of when she became Head of Commonwealth. In July 2012, London will host 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games and Glasgow hosting Commonwealth Games in 2014.

He said Queen’s Birthday is also an occasion to reflect on close ties that bind UK and Pakistan. Theseties were forged by history. Pakistan came into being only shortly before Her Majesty became Queen andenduring partnership between Pakistan and the UK has taken shape during her reign.
"As our Prime Minster, David Cameron said in his recent trip to Pakistan: Every step of the way we in Britain will be on your side, investing in your future, helping you to grasp the difficult challenges,working with you. I want our relationship to be one of trust; mutual benefit; opportunity. One where we have together built an unbreakable partnership for benefit of both countries, people and our world.” PPI
