Supreme Court orders to complete investigation of Hajj corruption scam within a week

ISLAMABAD : Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the FIA to complete its investigation into the Hajj corruption scam within a week and submit the report in the court.

Six- member larger bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the Hajj arrangements scam on Friday.
Supreme Court rejected the investigations reports of Federal Investigation Agency about the Hajj corruption case and directed FIA to take action against officers those give applications to withdraw from investigation because they have committed misconduct.
The Court asked for a report about the status of employees of Senate and provincial assemblies that whether the employees of constitutional bodies are part of civil services or not and reports about the employees which are on contract in federal and provinces. The court disposed off the application of Afzal Butt about threats to journalists.
During the course of hearing Chief Justice said that those people should be arrested who are involved in corruption, adding that corruption is every where and said that government transfer those investigative officers those works in right directions.
CJ said that it is a huge case of corruption and new stories are being told to court at every hearing, adding that director general FIA himself is involved in criminal cases then court should trust on whom? He said that finally court can ask sectary interior to appear. Chief justice said that reports contain nothing new except English.
CJ said that those officers said that they are not interested in the investigations action should be taken against them because they refuse to work. Chief justice said that special trained officers should investigate corruption cases.
Justice Javed Iqbal said that courts wants fair investigation and corrupt persons should be presented in courts after challan. Justice Raja Fayaz said that FIA encouraging corrupt persons by making their officers happy. Chief justice said to the DG FIA that Hajj corruption case is a case of billions of rupees but you did not read the case, adding that this was prepared with a lot of hard work but you people are misleading the case.
CJ said that court wanted to know that five persons including owner of Bharia Town Malik Riaz’s name are written but why action is not taken against them? Chief justice said that court did not order to take back money from those people who went on hajj free, adding that FIA threats journalists but did not taking action against parliamentarians who are responsible to send them.
Chief justice said to DG FIA that he should investigate case honestly and should take bold steps for the cases by trusting Allah. During the proceeding Attorney General Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq told the court that Prime Minister has terminated 27 contracted employees, meanwhile CJ said that nature of problems are different in Balochistan and situation is very worst there however it should be tried to give jobs to youngsters and new persons should be deployed instead of retried officers.
Advocate General Aman Ullah Kanrani submitted a report in court which stated that except three doctors no one is on the contract in the province. Advocate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa told the court that all contracted employees have been terminated in compliance of court orders.
Raja Abdul Ghafour while representing Sindh told the court that they needed time to submit report. federal Sectary establishment Abdul Rauf Chaudhry told the court that government decided to not terminate those people who are some days away from their retirement but government would not give extenuation to any contract employee.
Chief justice said that it is also moral responsibility of contract employees to take care of other officers those are not promoted because of them. The court directed the secretary establishment division to submit report and court adjourned the hearing of the case till 29 April.SANA
