PML-N should have launched long march against dictator: Gilani


Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that champions of long march have not general mandate, adding that if they are so emotional and patriot, they should have launched a long march against the dictator.

While addressing to a gathering in Narowal, he said that the PPP is the greatest party of the country, adding that caravan of democracy is going forward despite conspiracies being hatched against the government.
While lashing out PML-N and PTI, he said that he is surprised at attitude of the Opposition leader Ch Nisar Ali Khan who has been changing his views regarding the government. Earlier, he used to say that he did not admit the convicted prime minister and now, he is contending that he doesn’t recognize the National Assembly Spear Dr Fehmida Mirza.
He said that it is the PPP which restored original constitution of 1973 and brought revolutionary changes in socio-economic and socio-political aspects of life.
He said that the public is the source of PPP government s power as it was it s founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who gave the right to vote to a common man on basis of one man one vote. He said that PPP is the name of a philosophy‚ mission and a movement.
The Prime Minister said that the party leadership and worker bore the hardships during their political struggle‚ however they never bowed down in front of any dictator and also not changed their loyalties.
Prime Minister said that we have already implemented the eighty percent of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto s election manifesto. He said that PPP has won all the by-election which is reflective of party s popularity among the masses. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that no party is stronger than PPP to launch a long march against the Government.
He asked PML-N leaders why they could not organize long march against dictatorship and instead preferred to proceed abroad under an agreement. Prime Minister said that former prime minister of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s sin was to give tongue to masses.
He said that PML-N leadership should launched long march after coming from Jeddah when judiciary and media were sanctioned. He said that Nawaz Sharif should launched long march against Pervez Musharraf.
The Prime Minister regretted that one brother is not accepting the President, other is not accepting the Prime Minister and now Leader of the Opposition says he does not accept the Speaker. He said they only accept those who are mandated by people and do not come to power through crutches of others.
Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the PPP is serving the people without any discrimination and it would go to them on the basis of its performance.
Referring to the achievements of the present Government, he said it restored the 1973 Constitution to its original shape, gave NFC award, fulfilled longstanding demand of people of Gilgit-Baltistan for self-governance and those of KPK for identity. He said the PPP would also give identity to Saraiki people despite conspiracies.
The Prime Minister said the PPP has implemented eighty percent of its manifesto which speaks volumes about its successes.
He said the PPP would continue to pursue policies of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who gave people their self-respect, identity and right of franchise.
On this occasion the Prime Minister said the PPP Government believes in practical work and that is why it spent over three billion rupees on developmental activities in Narowal district including provision of sui gas and electricity, construction of roads and water and sewerage.
He announced grants of two million rupee for Narowal District Bar Association, one million for Zafarwal Bar Association; one million each for press club and national electronic media club. He announced opening of passport for Shakargarh and Narowal city.
He said 500 million rupees have also been districted among one hundred and fifty thousand families in Narowal district.
Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa lauded Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani for upholding supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law in the country.
He said the Prime Minister was summoned by the Supreme Court thrice and he appeared in deference to the court orders. He said people are not getting justice and the judiciary should concentrate on quick dispensation of justice.
Minister of State for Interior Imtiaz Safdar Warriach said they express full solidarity with the democratically elected Prime Minister. He presented tributes to the PM for demonstrating loyalty with the party. SANA
