KARACHI: Younis Habib Waraich, former Mehran Bank chief and central
character in the controversy pertaining to disbursement of money between
anti-PPP politicians, has revealed that he had personally gave money
to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif.
In an
interview with private TV channel, he also revealed that Rs2.3 million
was sent to Shahbaz Sharif through TT on September 27, 1993. He claimed
that a large amount of money was given to Aftab Khan Sherpao. Mr Waraich
said that he supported the Pakistan People’s Party in 1993 election to
get his correct his wrong-doings committed against the PPP in 1990.
He
said that he support religious elements against Nawaz Sharif in an
attempt to correct the “wrong-doings”. He was of the view that the money
was given in terms of bribery and he knew well it was big sin.
The
man on wheelchair said in 1993 he once again used money and weakened
Nawaz Sharif’s vote position by pitting Maulvis against him. Online
