Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has once again underlined the need for formation
of new provinces in country, adding that the government has
acquisitioned the two-third majority consensus for the establishment of
new provinces.
Addressing at National Assembly here, he said his government is in
favor of new provinces, adding that history will not forgive us if we do
not work towards the formation of new provinces.
It is impossible, he asserted, to make new province by bringing the
resolution for just striking the newspaper headlines; instead, the
opposition may put this matter in abeyance.
Summing up the debate on the new provinces, the PM Gilani said, ‘No
province can come into existence only by tabling a resolution for just
making headline.’
Assuring his government support over the issue, the premier said he
is not just in a statement gimmick; instead, the solid work that the
government is doing. He furthermore claimed to have attained a two-third
consensus over the issue in the Parliament.
He said that the government will extend all out support for the bill
or the resolution aimed at the creation of new provinces in the country.
He said that elected representatives from Seraiki and Hazara regions
have held discussions with him on this issue and we are also strongly in
favour of the creation of the new province.
He said consensus has been developed on the creation of Seraiki
province after consultations and we should not miss this opportunity to
remove the sense of deprivation of the people of the area.
He said several resolutions were moved in the Punjab Assembly
regarding the creation of Seraiki province but they refused to discuss
the issue. Therefore we have resorted to the National Assembly to
fulfill the demand of the people of the area.
About Hazara province the Prime Minister said that he has referred
the matter to the manifesto committee to evolve consensus on it.
However, we should not come under the influence of any spoiler to
miss opportunity for the creation of Seraiki province. There is complete
consensus on it and if we failed the time and the people of the area
will never forget us. SANA
