ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister Maula Bux Chandio has declared as
illegal the statement of Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain about the
proposed hike in the prices of petroleum products, saying it would
benefit hoarders.
Talking to media outside parliament house, the law minister said Dr Asim should not have made announcement much earlier.
Chandio
said that it is not the government that is empowered to ramp up the
prices of petroleum products; instead, it is Oil and Gas Regulatory
Authority (OGRA), which takes up such matters.
Dr Asim had announced on Friday that POL prices would be increased for February.
The
Law Minister further said that joint session of the parliament is
expected in the first week of February. He added that accountability
bill would soon be brought in the parliament soon. Online
