Passenger van truck clash claim 15 lives in Multan

In a tragic incident on Saturday, at least 15 passengers were burnt to death in a deadly road accident near at Tibba Sultan Pur near Multan.


Three children and seven women are among the death; meanwhile eight persons were injured; out of them two are in serious condition.
Police and rescue officials said the incident took place when a Multan-bound passenger van collided with oil tanker coming from opposite side near Chowk Metla area.
After the collision, they said, the oil started seeping out form the tanker as a result the van caught fire, completely burning within minutes.
At least 13 passengers, including three children and seven women, were burnt to death on the spot while two others died in hospital later on.

The injured were shifted to tehsil headquarters hospitals of Jehanain where two of them are said to be in critical state.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene and retrieved the dead bodies and injured from the damaged vehicle. Majority of the victims belong to Vihari town.
According to the sources 25 passengers were traveling on the van; meanwhile the truck driver succeeded to flee from the scene after the accident.
The residents protested against the slow response of the rescue 1122 officials and blocked the road for traffic. SANA
