Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the blocking of NATO
convoys into Afghanistan via Pakistan may continue for several weeks,
adding that the control of Shamsi airbase has been taken by the
Pakistani forces.
In an interview with BBC, Prime Minister Gilani also refused to rule out closing Pakistan’s airspace to the US.
However, asked if he still believed the attacks had been deliberate
and pre-planned, Prime Minister Gilani replied: “Apparently so.”
“When there are new rules of engagement with the United States… then I think we should trust each other better,” Gilani said.
He said he believed it was for Pakistan, not NATO, to act on “any credible or actionable information” about militant activity.

Prime Minister Gilani said that “Yes there is a credibility gap, we are working together and still we don’t trust each other,”.
“I think we have to improve our relationship so that… we should have more confidence in each other.”
Asked about the state of health of Pakistani President Asif Ali
Zardari, who has been receiving heart treatment in Dubai, the prime
minister said his condition was improving rapidly and his tests were
clear.
He denied that the president had had a stroke, or that he had written a letter of resignation, as claimed by a source in Dubai.
“Why should he write?” asked Mr Gilani. “He has the backing and support of the entire parliament.”
Prime minister denied that the army was trying to push the president
out of office. Dismissing speculation about a quiet coup, he said:
“Rumours are rumours.”
He said that the seraiki province is the desire of the masses of
south Punjab, adding that this matter could not be left on the
parliament, adding that the government would contact the present
assembly for the creation of Seraiki province.
He said that he never talked about not writing of letter to Swiss
courts and quitting the post pf prime minister, adding that my point of
view was present in wrong way I never talked about not writing letter to
Swiss court.
Over the non arrest of Benazir Bhutto killers, prime minister said
that there were high profile murders which occurred in Britain and till
date they have not been detected, adding that the matter of BB murder is
subjudice and we should wait for the results of the investigations.
Meanwhile the prime minister did not respond to the statement of
PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in which he said that those who left
Benazir Bhutto when she was dying, are ministers today. SANA
