Shaukat, his brother and nephew were suspects of a crime and were
being escorted out of an armored vehicle into the court when the gunmen
opened fire at them. Sources say both the parties belonged to the same
family and had links to the underground.
According to details, Chaudhry Shaukat, resident of Dhok Elahi Bux
along with three others were brought this morning on board armored
personnel carrier to the court of Additional Session Judge, when they
were attacked by the rival Kala Khan group.
Chaudhry Shaukat, his brother Arshad, nephew Mithu and a passer-by
were killed on the spot. The bodies have been shifted to nearby District
Headquarters Hospital for post mortem.
It should be mentioned here that the two rival groups ran gambling
centers and entered a dispute over a bargain several months ago. Shaukat
Group killed four rivals including Kala Khan.
Meanwhile the District Bar President Malik Jawad Khalid while talking
to media said that the incident happened due to the poor security
management of police and police has failed to protect the applicants,
lawyer and accused coming into the court.
He said that we demanded installation of CCTV cameras and walk
through gates for proper checking but the police officials did not take
notice of our demand due to which such type of incidents happened after
days and months. SANA
