Power tariffs hiked by record Rs. 3.04/unit

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Friday approved to hike power tariffs by Rs. 3.04 per unit, a record hike in the national history.

The highest raise in power tariffs was approved for the month of August under monthly fuel adjustment. The recent hike will be applicable to all the electricity users except the lifeline consumers.
Prior to the approval the increase plea was heard at NEPRA after which all the distribution companies were allowed the increase.
According to the NEPRA sources, Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) requested for hike of Rs. 3.06. The latest increase is till far the biggest under Monthly Fuel Adjustment head. Online
