ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani held a meeting with
prominent leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) at Prime Minister
House here on Monday to consult them on the convening of an All Parties
Conference (APC) on September 29.
Those, who were present in
the meeting, included Defence Minister Chaudhary Ahmed Mukhtar, Leader
of the House in Senate Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Secretary General of PPP
Jahangir Badr, Minister for Interior A Rehman Malik, Minister for
Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah, Minister for Information Dr
Firdous Ashiq Awan, Senator Babar Awan, members of National Assembly
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Nazar Muhammad Gondal.
The
Prime Minister is sending personal letters to the leaders of political
parties extending them invitation to participate in the conference. The
letter mentions the imperatives to hold the conference meant to give
strategic direction to the nation in the wake of security threats in
the region.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who will be
returning immediately after her address to the General Assembly on
September 27, will brief the political leadership about the security
situation in the region in general and in Pakistan in particular. The
