CDA to Celebrate World Tourism Day today

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has organized “Walk of Unity” from Faisal Chowk to Faisal Masjid in connection with “World Tourism Day” being celebrated across the globe today (Tuesday). Chairman CDA, Imtaiz Inayat Elahi would lead the walk to be participated by the School Children and people from different segments of the society to help promote the tourism with a view to reflect the soft image of the country.

Speaking in this connection here on Monday, while reviewing the arrangements for celebrating the World Tourism Day, Chairman CDA said, “we stand by the international community in the celebrations of World Tourism Day 2011 with the commitment to play a responsible role towards achieving the shared goals, adding that the Capital Development Authority, as an efficient Municipal body, has been taking measures to promote tourism in Islamabad as the capital city of Pakistan boasts many irresistible tourism attractions like parks, art and craft, modern infrastructure, adventure, water sports and allied entertainment and amusement facilities for the visitors as well as the residents of the city, said the Chairman CDA.
It is also strategically located at the cross roads of most attractive tourist destinations of Pakistan. Islamabad is very rich in culture and history. The CDA has identified more than 100 historic and archeological sites such sites and is taking long term/short term measures are to protect, develop and preserve them.
Chairman CDA said that we have created a full-fledged Tourism Division in CDA to exploit and optimize the tourism potential of Islamabad. Being an eco-friendly organization we have introduced the concept of eco-tourism. Translating our vision, a safari train named as Margalla Tourist Train has been introduced to facilitate the tourists for discovering and exploring the safari adventure of Islamabad as well as providing infotainment attractions for the children.
CDA also focusing on the promotion of School Tourism and have been preparing different attractive tour packages because we believe that exposure is the best learning for the youth.
Being part of the celebrations around the globe under this year’s World Tourism day theme, “Tourism-Linking Cultures”, we at CDA are fully aware of tourism’s role in linking together cultures across the world, fostering tolerance, respect and promoting mutual understanding for one another. Never before have so many people been to so many places, nor been so exposed to other cultures. This interaction between individuals and communities, and their diverse cultures serves as building blocks for a more peaceful world.
He expressed hope that with individual as well integrated actions we will be able to make a difference towards creating a global culture which embraces human diversity, creed and custom to build a more peaceful tomorrow. SANA
