ISLAMABAD: PML (Q) has once again renewed its demand for the
appointment of the party leader and the senior Federal Minister Ch
Pervaiz Elahi as Deputy Prime Minister otherwise the future of the
alliance would be in question.
The demand was made by President
PML (Q) Ch Shujaat Hussain to the President Asif Ali Zardari during a
meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Wednesday. On the occasion Mushaid
Hussain Sayed was also present.
Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain made
it clear to the President that PML(Q) joined the government on two
conditions including making Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi Deputy Prime
Minister instead of Senior Minister and the second was to resolve the
matter of NICL scam and release of Monis Elahi but neither was accepted
by the government.
Chaudhary Shujaat said that if the
government did not realize the demands of PML (Q) the future of
competitively newly formed alliance could be shattered as PML (Q) could
part their ways form the PPP led government.
President Asif Ali
Zardari assured the PML (Q) Chief that both the pledges would be met
after consultation with other parties in the coalition government. He
said that the matter regarding the Deputy Prime Minister is a
constitutional subject and it would take some time. It is pertinent to
mention here that earlier PML(N), JUI(F) and MQM also parted ways with
PPP on the plea that President Asif Ali Zardari did not keep his
promises. Online
