Supreme Court expresses displeasure over slipping away from court by DG FIA

SLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has expressed grave concern over slipping away from the court by DG FIA involved in contempt of court case before commencement of proceedings.

3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the case for hearing Thursday.
During the course of hearing CJP inquired from Attorney General (AG) where DG FIA Malik Iqbal was as he was facing contempt of court case and he was to appear in the court in this case.
AG said “you had discharged the board with reference to hearing of the cases. Due to this reason Malik Iqbal had gone out of court room.
CJP expressed displeasure over it saying “ how can DG FIA go out of the court room as he has to appear in contempt case”.
Court directed that DG FIA should appear in the court today along with his counsel. Contempt of court case against him will be heard.
When inquired by CJP about Zafar Qureshi, AG said court had adjourned the hearing till June, 8
Expressing his displeasure CJP said “ What is this all. You should not have said so. We will hear the contempt of court case against DG FIA today”. Online
