Shahid Afridi hoping to ‘get justice’ in his battle against PCB

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has said that he is hoping to "get justice" in his battle against the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Following Afridi's sudden retirement and his harsh words against the PCB, the board had suspended his central contract and revoked all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued to him, which meant the all-rounder was unable to represent Hampshire in a Twenty20 tournament in England.

Reluctant to let go of his lucrative Hampshire deal, Afridi has opted to take on the PCB to revive his NOC and feature for the county as well as the Sri Lanka Premier League.

"I will decide on my future course of action on Monday after consulting my lawyers and hope to get justice," The Dawn quoted Afridi, as saying.

"It's not a matter of being replaced as captain, it's a matter of honour," he added.

Earlier, the PCB had formed a four-member disciplinary committee for hearing a disciplinary case against Afridi from June 8.

The PCB has initiated action against Afridi in response to the breaches he committed under the Central Contract signed with the board by "announcing his retirement in the manner that he did", and in "passing disparaging remarks" about the board and its officials.

The board had also issued a show cause notice to him seeking his explanation on these comments.

It said that Afridi has been asked to appear before the committee on June 8 at 3.00 pm at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. ANI
