Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday announced that federal government would give Rs 4 billion subsidy to the agricultural tube-wells in Balochistan. Addressing a Pakistan Peoples Party workers convention here at Governor house,
PM Gilani said that subsidy on tube-wells in agriculture sector of
Balochistan was a main issue confronted by the local growers. “Balochistan farmers owed Rs 7 billion to QESCO in connection with the electricity bills,” he said adding that in order to resolve the issue, federal government would pay Rs 4 billion as subsidy while provincial government has been asked to pay remaining Rs 3 billon to settle down the issue amicably.
He noted that country was facing menace of terrorism and extremism, adding it was the mainstream party PPP which brought the leadership of all political parties on single plate farm to fight the terrorists who are busy to destabilize the county.
“A big chunk of funds allocated for Balochistan were being spent on the maintenance of law and order in the province,” he said adding that If the amount earmarked for Balochistan is spent on development sector, then a massive economic boost and improvement in life standard of common people could be brought.
Prime Minster Gilani expressing his concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan said that meeting held on law and order has decided to further enhance the intelligence sharing among the federal government, provincial government and law enforcement agencies.
“Capacity building of Frontier Corps Balochistan will be enhanced to curb the menace of terrorism effectively,” he maintained.
Highlighting the sacrifices rendered by the leadership of PPP, PM Gilani said that today Pakistan was strong because of the prolong struggle and sacrifices of PPP’s leaders.
He said that political philosophy and vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and his daughter Shaheed Benazir Bhutto were being followed by the incumbent leadership of the PPP, adding the nation was still following the vision of ZAB.
He pledged that PPP was intact and would resolve all issues facing its workers across the country. He also directed the PPP ministers to give 05 percent of development schemes on the disposal of party activists so that they could also contribute in the development process of the county.
He said the federal government would establish cadet college in Balochistan, for which Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had promised.
Earlier, the PPP activists hailing from all districts of the province of Balochistan informed Prime Minister Gilani about the problems they were confronting in their respective districts. APP
