Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani met President Asif Ali Zardari and discussed the overall security of the country, a media report said Thursday.
The meeting took place in the aftermath of the US commando raid in Abbottabad city, barely 120 km from Islamabad, that led to the death of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and the terror attack on the PNS Mehran naval base in Karachi that killed 14 people, The Nation reported.
A statement made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad regarding a threat to Pakistan's nuclear arsenal figured in the meeting.
The leaders said there was no threat to Pakistan's nuclear installations, and expressed satisfaction over the control system for the country's strategic assets, sources said.
They reiterated that Pakistan would not let its soil be used for terrorist activities targeted at any other state as well as within the country.
Terming the war on terror as Pakistan's own war, the leaders expressed their resolve to weed out the menace of terrorism from the country, the sources said.
The meeting also reviewed the strained relationship with the US after the Abbottabad incident. Though the leaders agreed to remove the mistrust between the two countries, they at the same time expressed the resolve that Pakistan would not tolerate such "clandestine" operations inside the country in future.
