ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Pogramme (BISP),
Farzana Raja has said that PML-N was doing the politics of
confrontation for the sake of mere publicity and thus, such behavior
was not in the good interest of the nation.
Talking to a
private TV, she said that the PML-N’s behavior during the budget
session was indecent and unjustifiable. However, the democratic
government led by Pakistan Peoples Party would continue the policy of
reconciliation and tolerance. She said this during a TV interview here
on Saturday.
Farzana Raja said that PML-N was attempting to
derail democracy. However, the ill-conceived policies have exposed the
leaders of the party to the people. She said that as a result of ill
planning and poor governance, the poverty and law and order situation
in Punjab are taking worst shape and the economy of Punjab is sinking
under heavy loans which is unprecedented for a province which had no
loans on it previously. She said that the dreams of PML-N and other
forces for mid-term elections would never come true and present
democratic government would complete its term of 5 years.
The
BISP Chairperson said that the government has presented a balanced
budget despite the hardships faced after devastating floods and ongoing
war against terrorism. She said that by broadening the tax net, economy
of the country would grow and reliance on others would be lessened.
Farzana
Raja said that the present government does not believe in the politics
of empty slogans. She said that BISP is largest programme in Asia
aiming to curb poverty and it is providing relief to poor of the
country without any consideration of political affiliations or caste,
creed and religion. She said that BISP is not limited to providing Rs
1000 to beneficiary families as financial assistance but it has
introduced comprehensive schemes i.e. Waseela-e-Haq, Waseela-e-Rozgaar
and life insurance as exit strategies to curb poverty on long term
basis.
She stated that so far Rs, 88 Billions have been
distributed by BISP among poor. To ensure transparency, it has
introduced state of the art technology; therefore, the prestigious
international organizations have posed full trust in the programme.
Ghayoor Saboor, an expert in economy, on the occasion, appreciated the
developmental budget presented by the government and said that due to
introduction of technology and poverty survey, BISP has been turned
into a successful initiative for poverty eradication. Online
