PM Gilani for exploitation of Pak-China economic opportunities

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza GilaniTuesday called for optimal exploitation of economic opportunities tobring both Pakistan and China closer for mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.

       Talking to Cao Guangijing, Chairman of China Three GorgesProject Corporation here at PM House, he said the contributionmade by China in various sectors in Pakistan was indeed a reflectionof excellent relations between both the two countries.      The Prime Minister said that Pakistan has the most liberal andbusiness friendly investment policy and would encourage Chineseinvestment in various sectors including energy and infrastructuredevelopment.       He appreciated the interest shown by the China Three GorgesCorporation in the power sector particularly in hydro, solar andwind energy power projects.      Cao Guangijing, Chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation,with the status of Minister is heading an eleven- member delegation.      He said because of the close friendly relations between thetwo neighborly countries, Pakistan was a priority for theirinvestment.      He said the China Three Gorges Corporation was amongst the 10largest corporations in the world and China's largest corporation inthe energy and infrastructure development sector. The Corporation,he added, has expertise in all forms of power production includingcoal, hydro, solar and wing energy plants.      The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Ministerfor Finance, Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Water & Power, Mrs.Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Saleem H.Mandviwala, Chairman, Board of Investment and concerned federalsecretaries.
